Gun Charges Dismissed Against Woods In Slaying Of Girlfriend

Tuesday, September 12, 2017
General Sessions Court Judge Clarence Shattuck on Tuesday dismissed gun charges against Reginald Dewayne Woods (Oakley) in the slaying of his 42-year-old girlfriend Katrina Holloway claims she shot herself.

He said the only proof before him was the statement by Woods that Ms. Holloway had the gun at the time of the fatal shooting on July 20 at College Hill Courts.

However, the judge did send a criminal homicide charge against Woods to the Grand Jury.

Prosecutor Kevin Brown said Woods had a prior voluntary manslaughter conviction and served time in federal prison for drug dealing. He said federal authorities have a hold on Woods based on the new homicide charge.

Woods was also charged in a shooting in 2011 at College Hill Courts that wounded three people.

Detective Corey Stokes said Woods told him that after he argued with Ms. Holloway she waved a gun in front of him. He said he never touched the gun, but pushed her away so that it did not point at him.

He said it went off during the struggle with a single shot going into the middle of her chest.

Woods called 911 and could be heard saying, "Baby, Baby" to the shooting victim.

Her 11-year-old son was at home at the time.

Detective Stokes said he found a trail of blood from the kitchen to the living room, where her body was found.

Stormwater Fiasco And East Ridge Camping
