#18- ranked Dalton State scored a huge win on Thursday, defeating #24 William Carey (Miss.), 83-73 at Mashburn Arena.

The atmosphere for tonight's game was very electric with the previous meeting of the two teams in the conference title game last March.
To start the bout of these two heavy weight teams, the Roadrunners would throw the first punch by going up 26-5, sparked by
Aaron Burress's 2-three pointers and emphatic dunk! The Crusaders would fight back and put up points of their own to make the lead 35-20 with 4 minutes on the clock. The Roadrunners would win round 1 of 2, going into the locker room up 40-28 at the half.

To start the second half, both teams would come out patient waiting for the knock out blow. The Crusaders would cut the lead to 5 points early on, but then senior Carniliious Simmons would take over. He would get an and one to give the Roadrunners a ten point cushion with five minutes to go in the game. The Roadrunners would ice the game from the charity stripe down the stretch to win the bout, 83-73.

#18 Dalton State improves to (13-4 overall, 6-1 SSAC) with the win, while #24 William Carey (Miss.) drops to (11-4 overall, 5-2 SSAC) with tonight's loss. Senior Carnilious Simmons would again lead the Roadrunners with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Freshman, Aaron Burress and senior Reed Dungan combined for 35 points, and 6 assists.

Troy Salvant led all Crusaders with 20 points, with Jaylen Moore following him up with 17 points.
