Phil And The Travesty

Monday, October 8, 2018

The treatment of Judge Kavanaugh was a travesty. Chris Wallace, TV newsman, said the big problem with Dr. Ford’s story was “there are no facts” meaning no facts of evidence. And of course, without evidence there is no proof of the accusation.

Repeatedly Democrats said the hearing wasn’t a trial, saying evidence doesn’t need to meet the standard of law. However their TV pundits repeatedly called the judge a rapist, a drunken brawler and a serial predator which requires by law supporting evidence which there was none. A Democrat on the committee even called him evil. That’s a cheap smear campaign.

None of that is the American system of justice. It’s no surprise these same Democrats argue a lack of evidence should exonerate one of their pack when accused of wrongdoing. Debra Katz, liberal activist and Dr Ford’s attorney was quick to say to The New York Times in 1998, that Paula Jones had no case when she made accusations of sexual misconduct by Bill Clinton. Katz said she (Paula Jones) alleged one incident took place in a hotel room, that by her own testimony, lasted 10 to 12 minutes and that wasn’t enough to warrant a case.

Those same Democrats questioning Judge Kavanaugh about throwing ice in a bar or comments in his yearbook want to remove the question in job applications regarding criminal convictions. They say past mistakes should not influence employers even if the person was convicted of murder or armed robbery.

Prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, who questioned Ford, in her report which most news media has ignored, stated there was insufficient evidence to take the accusation to court. She cited flaws in Ford’s statements and testimony. That should have ended it, but not for Democrats. They demanded and got additional FBI interviews regarding Ford and others’ accusations. Ironically the FBI report may have been what helped persuade Flake and Manchin to vote yes.

Predictably no Democrat accepted the findings in the  additional report. That is because from the very beginning this has always been about power and intimidation-the threat of ruination of any conservative nominated for the court.  We saw the Democrats callously discard due process and the guarantee of innocent until proven guilty-pillars of our justice system. And they hoped their unrelenting beating on Judge Kavanaugh would force his withdrawal.

Democrats now have adopted a model for personal destruction. They think “who will want to be subjected to this? And the bullying doesn’t stop with candidates. People posing as protesters followed senators wildly screaming through the halls of Congress. Some were robotically chanting their marching orders like so many zombies going forth to stalk a victim. Anyone who watched the final vote heard maniacal screaming from the Senate gallery in attempts to disrupt orderly processes of government. Senator Collins on 60 Minutes said the threats and bullying had much to do with her decision to vote yes. Does anyone remember the pressure tactics placed on presidential electors before they met in January, 2017? So it’s nothing new and getting much worse when Democrats don’t win or get their way. And no Democrat official is willing to stand up and denounce any of it.

And for Tennesseans, after repeatedly dancing around the question of how he would vote, was it a coincidence that Phil Bredesen issued his press release during the vote and after Collins, Flake and Manchin had announced their yes vote? Wow, wait until he knows the winner and then reveal his vote. I guess that’s how “Statesman Phil” plans to stand up for the people of Tennessee in DC if he has to deal with those same Democrats.

So did anyone really think the Swampire wouldn’t strike back with the nastiest scheme they could concoct? Ruining Judge Kavanaugh and his family and bullying and threatening senators may become routine now in the Democrats’ Trump Wars. Is that the party we want leading this state or this nation? Is that the future we want for our children and grandchildren?
