Scott Benn, 25, was arrested on Sunday for attempted murder of his step-father.

Chattanooga Police responded on Sunday at 10:08 a.m. for a person who had arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

Upon arrival, police were informed Dale Edmonds, 56, had arrived at the hospital by a personally-owned vehicle and was suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Police determined the shooting had occurred at 1719 South Seminole Dr., Apt. A. The victim's  injuries are serious but non-life threatening at this time.

Police located Benn at 1224 South Seminole, where he had crashed his vehicle into a house.
He was taken to the hospital due to minor injuries from the crash.

Police were notified that Alexander Edmonds, son of Dale Edmonds, was at Parkridge East Hospital. He said he was present during the shooting and said the weapon used to shoot his father was in his vehicle.

He said his father had called him to come over because Benn was causing a disorder. He said after he arrived he saw the front door open. He said he could see Benn holding a revolver on his father.

He said Benn told his father, "I am going to kill you."

Alexander Edmonds said he rushed Benn to try to prevent him from shooting his father. He said they struggled over the gun and he pushed Benn out of the house.

He said Benn again said he was going to kill Dale Edmonds. He said he then heard one shot. He said Benn then fell over a rail.

He said he then wrestled the gun away from Benn before taking his father to the hospital.

He said Benn's mother, girlfriend and children were inside the house at the time of the shooting.

Benn told police that he and Dale Edmonds were in a verbal disorder. He said he left to go to a friend's house to get a gun.

Benn said when he pulled the gun on Dale Edmonds that he and Alexander Edmonds rushed him. He said the gun went off during the altercation.

Benn said the Taurus .38 Special revolver turned over to police by Alexander Edmonds was the gun used in the shooting.

Police said the gun was stolen out of Rutherford County, Tn.

Benn was transported to the Hamilton County Jail where he was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and theft of property.

Benn is being held on bonds totaling $212,000.

The Logic of Hysteria: A Hometown Look from A Thousand Miles Away

There was a shooting recently in my hometown, in the parking lot of the mall. It made the national news and I was reading the user comments on the story. Someone was giving their experience about how they heard some rounds fired near the Sears. The next comment was, “They still have a Sears?”   So what the heck happened? The police say there was never an active shooter, ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Why CNN Is Gonna Croak

I believe CNN (Cable News Network) has become one of the most disappointing news sources America has ever known in the last five years. The bastions of sound journalism no longer exist as the once-great organization has gone the way of liberal loathing. Its new basis-of-fact cannot be trusted and the overwhelming bias against conservatives in our nation is as morbid as it is frightening. ... (click for more)
