Monday, April 16, 2018

Comcast Cares Day, which takes place each April during National Volunteer Month, is Comcast NBCUniversal’s companywide celebration of their year-round commitment to service and the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer effort in the country.

On Saturday, Comcast’s signature Comcast Cares Day event in East Tennessee will bring nearly 100 volunteers, elected officials, and community partners to the Ronald McDonald House for a beautification project including yard clean up, spring mulching, planting, window washing, playground cleaning and pressure washing.

The event will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at 200 Central Ave.

Members of the general public are invited to join. To sign up, visit ComcastintheCommunity.com or visit the direct link at https://www.comcastinthecommunity.com/Project/Detail?projectId=10422.  Onsite registration will be available, but participants are encouraged to sign up beforehand to ensure they get a t-shirt.

“We are thrilled to have been selected for this year’s Comcast Cares Day project,” said Jane Kaylor, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House. “Through this beautification project, Comcast volunteers will make a big impact to our site and will help us improve the home environment for our families.”

The word ‘ignobel’ is rarely used because only a few among us know that it means "characterized by baseness, lowness, or meanness." About 30 years ago, a glorious group of great scholars took a literary hatchet to form the word into ‘ig nobel’ so it could be placed in the dictionary as a term that means “a satirical social criticism that identifies absurd research.” Think of ...
