Lee University’s Kellen Gifford, a junior digital media studies major with a cinema emphasis, is spending eight months in the Disney College Program, based at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fl.

The DCP provides students the chance to take personal and career development courses, network with leaders, and build communication and teamwork skills.

Mr. Gifford is a part of the 14 percent of applicants who are accepted into the program each year. Walt Disney Company’s rigorous application process starts with an online application and questionnaire and ends with a phone interview.

“I've always loved Disney and have wanted to work for the company since I was a child,” said Mr. Gifford. “I would love to eventually work for them professionally on some type of creative team, so this program is an incredibly valuable experience for me. I am excited to bring the experiences and knowledge I am gaining with the DCP back to Lee as I finish my degree.”

Mr. Gifford’s classes at the DCP are centered around leadership, communication, and creativity.

“This experience will help me in my future career in the film industry,” said Mr. Gifford. “I am surrounded by creativity and have had the opportunity to build relationships and make contacts with people from all over the world.”

Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... Roy Exum: Dear Faux Pelini

It has been my experience that of all the tribes and herds of different people on earth, sports writers are among the funniest people of all. Oh, there isn’t anything real sexy about Villanova beating Georgetown or a baseball player hitting for the cycle. Now, if a player hits a single, double, triple and homer in that order, that’s “a natural cycle,” and that is kind of fun to ... (click for more)
