An anonymous donor is contributing $10,000 to the reward fund in the unsolved case of Janet Newman.

Someone killed Ms. Newman 11 days before Christmas in 1984 as she worked alone inside Cannon Towel and Linen on Brainerd Road. When Ms. Newman’s boss returned from running errands in the middle of the afternoon of Friday, December 14, he found Ms. Newman’s body in a back storage room.
The 25-year-old woman had been bound, gagged and stabbed repeatedly in the chest.

The District Attorney General’s Cold Case Unit is reviewing this case and is asking for the public’s help so it can bring answers to Ms. Newman’s family, especially her daughter, Tracy.

CrimeStoppers is also offering a $1000 reward in the case, which brings the total amount to $11,000 to anyone who is able to provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Ms. Newman’s death.

Drink Up, Chattanooga

I attended the meeting to discuss the placement of the sewage treatment plant at the Cambridge Center in Ooltewah today. My problem with the meeting (aka) dog and pony show, is that the meeting started out with the agenda of the Ooltewah Community Council.  After living in this area for 45+ years I have never heard of this group.  I would like for someone to answer ... The idea was hatched a couple of years ago. Some Tennessee football fanatic had gotten wind that an Oklahoma player had documented his baptism to havoc inside Neyland Stadium. Offensive lineman Ty Darlington was part of that 2015 double-overtime slugfest against the Vols and, afterwards, remembered OU’s 34-27 win – after being down by 17 points earlier – was an absolute “dissertation” ...
