Donations Needed For Chattanooga Police Project Thank You

Friday, June 15, 2018

Harvest Bible Chapel Chattanooga and Moody Radio Chattanooga (WMBW FM) will sponsor the third annual Project Thank You to show appreciation from the people of the greater Chattanooga area to the officers of the Chattanooga Police Department.

Attached is a listing of the items which our police officers have said would help them on a daily basis, but which are not provided to them. Organizers will assemble bags filled with these donated items and will deliver them directly to the sworn officers of the Chattanooga Police Department on Wednesday.

There are more than 350 officers who are based at the Police Services Center on Amnicola Drive and 110 officers based at the downtown precinct, and organizers will deliver the bags in appropriate numbers to each location.

Here’s how to help:

Donate money. Organizers will take the cash and use it to purchase needed items for the bags. (Please note that police officers cannot accept cash gifts.)

Donate gift cards from a business or for other local businesses. Organziers will distribute those among the officers. Fast-food cards are especially coveted by the patrol officers, as they rarely get a chance to sit down for a meal while they are working.

If appropriate, donate items from your business.

If your business is an eatery, donate food on Wednesday, the day the bags will be delivered to the CPD.

Choose an item or items from the list and purchase and donate those.

Donate assembled gift bags. Organizers can deliver the empty bags to you (if you are in the Chattanooga city limits) in which your items can be placed. If you choose this option, please let organizers know how many bags you plan to donate. This helps us in planning.

Provide manpower or a vehicle to help transport the donated items to the CPD on Wednesday.

Last year two bags were delivered for each officer, and this year organizers hope to deliver the same, so that the officers will have goodies for several weeks of hot summer patrols. They also delivered thousands of bottles of water and hundreds of bottles of Gator-Ade and other drinks, and organizers hope to increase those numbers greatly this year.

If interested in helping with this project, please call Mitzi Johnston at Pierce Law Firm at 648-4303 for details or with questions.
