Chattanooga’s Live Music Scene: Crossfire by Bob Payne WWW.MYSPACE.COM/DAVRIK posted July 2, 2009
Primarily a dance band, Crossfire does everything from Santana to Stevie Ray Vaughn to Waylon Jennings. I particularly liked the country tunes they performed, as Mark Hinard has a great voice for the classics. Dan Lee, Steve Kelley, and Terry Gibson round out this experienced band. And yes, they did Mustang Sally, which we heard for 125,387th time. This band sounded pretty doggone good, and I was glad I had a chance to meet them and hear them play. You can meet them too, just by going right here. The Chattanooga Idol competition will be held at the UTC Fine Arts Center today, starting at 1 p.m. The winner gets a guaranteed spot before the producers at the American Idol auditions in Orlando, with hotel and travel expenses paid. I was honored to be chosen as a judge again this year, and look forward to seeing the talent Chattanooga has to offer. Come out and see us. For a big time this weekend, try the Battle Of The Bands contest at Martin Springs Farm in South Pittsburg, TN. With $10,000 in cash and prizes, the music here should be great. For more info, go here. You have about three weeks to buy, rent, steal or borrow a boat for one of my most favorite events, Aquapalooza 2009. It will be held on July 18, right on Chickamauga Lake. It’s a party on the lake, with Bud Lightning playing from 6 - 9 p.m. on the floating stage right in the middle of Lake Chickamauga. For more info and to register for the free event, try this right here. Bob’s Pick-o-the week is Chattanooga Idol, Thursday from 1 - 6 p.m. at UTC’s Fine Arts Center.
