Pino Gelato Brings A Taste Of Italy To Downtown Chattanooga

A taste of Italy has come to downtown Chattanooga with the arrival of Pino Gelato and its broad selection of Italian ice cream flavors. Pino Gelato will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 6 at 2 p.m. at its new location at 409 Broad Street. The event will be arranged by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce.

Gelato is an Italian variant of ice cream made without the use of eggs. It contains less than half the fat content of traditional ice cream, uses natural flavorings and, with 55 percent less air in the batching process, it offers a more dense rich flavor than regular ice cream, according to the shop owners Jeff and Cheryl Sims.

Pino Gelato flavors include blueberry, cookies and cream, coconut, mocha, strawberry, peanut butter and several more. The Pino Gelato also offers sorbetto, pizza cones and beverages including fresh, ground Stone Cup coffee.

Both Jeff and Cheryl Sims attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Jeff works at Unum, and Cheryl is a realtor at Crye-Leike.

The Pino Gelato, located across Broad Street from Jack’s Alley and beside Sweet Pepper’s Deli, is open Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 9 p.m.
