2 Fort Oglethorpe Council Members Replaced; Liquor Loses In LaFayette
posted November 3, 2009

Voters in Fort Oglethorpe replaced two City Council incumbents in voting Tuesday.

In LaFayette, a liquor referendum failed by 22 votes.

Earl Gray tallied 453 votes to defeat Fort Oglethorpe Councilman Harold Silcox, who received 278 in Ward 2.

Ward 5 Councilman Steve Brandon lost a close race to Eddie Stinnett. It was Stinnett 303, Brandon 292 and David Dunham 155.

Mr. Stinnett received 40 percent of the vote so there will not be a runoff election.

Councilman Louis Hamm won in Ward 3, piling up 368 votes. John Muina had 257 and former council member Richard Egeland had 114.

Other council members are Mayor Ronnie Cobb, Charles Sharrock and Johnny "Red" Smith.
