Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon Kicks Off Thursday At T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital

For three days starting on Wednesday, Sunny 92.3 and 96.5 The Mountain will air live from T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Erlanger during the 3rd Annual Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon.

During the three-day event, patients and their families, along with physicians, nurses, and staff members hope to bring awareness of the Center, as well as encourage Sunny 92.3 and 96.5 The Mountain listeners to help make a difference in the lives of the children treated at Children’s Hospital.

Sunny 92.3 will broadcast live from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. 96.5 The Mountain will air live from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

“This unique event allows for area listeners to hear first hand from the many families who have benefited from the treatment and care T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital Cancer Center offers,” said Magen Hooper, Children’s Miracle Network coordinator at Children’s Hospital.

The three-day event will feature live interviews with oncology patients and families who are currently undergoing treatment at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, those who have undergone treatment in the past, as well as live interviews with the doctors, nurses, and staff members who care for these children day in and day out.

“The stories shared during the event are a true testament of the life saving work that goes on every day at the Children’s Hospital Cancer Center. I encourage all our wonderful listeners to tune in to hear these kids and their parents share their life story about the challenges and triumphs of living with cancer.”

All funds raised during the Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon will be used to support cancer research, care and education at the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center located at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

The oncology program at Children’s Hospital, the only facility in the region specifically trained to provides cancer care to children and young adults is part of a national network of children’s hospitals called Children’s Oncology Group.

This group meets regularly to share information on childhood cancer and standardize protocols for each kind of cancer.

As the only academic medical center in the Chattanooga and tri-state region devoted solely to children, T. C. Thompson Children’s Hospital at Erlanger provides the best in children’s healthcare by viewing the world from a unique perspective of children and understanding what they need.
