The Elder Law Practice of David McGuffy, Hutcheson Hospice and RossWoods Adult Day Services are celebrating National Family Caregiver Month by offering a free lunch and learn for family caregivers on Nov. 11 at noon at the Oakwood Baptist Church, Faith Building, in Chickamauga.
The holiday season often brings a whirlwind of activities including parties, gift giving and sometimes some traveling adding to the difficulties of 24/7 caregiving. Paige Osbourn, RN, from Hutcheson Hospice, and Marnie Dodd, LCSW, from the Elder Law Practice of David McGuffey, will share tips on reducing stress, simplifying your holiday plans and gaining support from each other.
A special drawing for one free “Estate Planning Package” (valued at $1,000 and donated by Elder Law Practice of David L McGuffey), and another drawing for one week of free day respite (valued at $350) at RossWoods Adult Day Services in its brand new facility located in Dalton, will be held at the end of the luncheon.
According to the National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA), in any given year more than over 50 million people provide some level of caregiving services valued at more than $375 billion dollars a year. Family caregivers provide more than 80 percent of all home care services. “Our organizations are pleased to provide this opportunity to formally recognize and celebrate the valuable role caregivers play,” said Laurie Parker, community outreach coordinator for RossWoods.
