Message to Dorothy, the good witch and Toto: there is still time to get your tickets to this Saturday night’s concert to benefit Veterans Outreach groups, featuring Kansas, The Edgar Winter Band, and Overland Express. (Please, leave your Lions, Scarecrows, and Tin Man at home) The weather should be good, you can bring your own comfortable lawn chair, and it benefits a great cause. What better reasons to come out and enjoy some great music? The First Tennessee Pavilion is the location, the gates open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. You can get your tickets easily, by clicking here. You can also go by the UTC Arena Box Office or Compact Discovery on Ringgold Road in East Ridge.

There are a couple reasons why I would like to see this concert succeed. I have a friend that just came home from the VA Hospital in Nashville today. He has been up there for a couple weeks, recovering from another surgery resulting from wounds suffered in the Gulf War. The First Gulf War. Yes, they have been repairing Marty for 13 years. A true USA hero, Marty has the best attitude and biggest smile of anyone I have ever met.

Here’s another reason: my brother-in-law. Right now, Dave is in the same Nashville VA Hospital, awaiting some surgery. He may lose his toe. He needs some bypass surgery. He is a Vietnam veteran, and a darn fine fellow.

Bring a few extra bucks to the concert, too. There will be food and beverages there, as well as CD’s and T-Shirts. Overland Express will have their double CD, and they are donating the proceeds to the Veterans groups.

My friend Dennis Massengale is hosting the Grand Opening of his ChattaMusic music store this Sunday at 4115 Ringgold Rd. (Former Joe Chambers Music Store location) They will have hot dogs, cold drinks, door prizes and music. Wesley Crider, Tim Neal & Scott Tatum, and No Big Deal will all be performing. Festivities start at 3 p.m. Support local business!

Bob’s pick-o-the-weekend is the Veterans concert this Saturday night at First Tennessee Pavilion.

My pick-o-the week is Cadillac Sky, Michael Ford Jr. And Apache Relay at Rhythm And Brews tonight!
