River Gallery Has Artist Reception Dec. 4
posted November 6, 2009

River Gallery in the Bluff View Art District will host two December artists who invite the viewer to look again at the spaces in between life’s moments.

The exhibits will run from Dec. 1-31. An opening reception will be held Friday, Dec. 4, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Painter Courtenay James draws on centuries of European oil painting to achieve his desired effect. His representational paintings interpret moments that seek out the abstract details hidden in commonplace subjects. He encourages the viewer to take a fresh look at what lies beneath the surface.

Sculptor Brian Russell blends metal and cast glass to create his abstract forms. Science and nature have a large influence on his work as he finds inspiration in the natural shapes found in surroundings.

The gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no charge for admission.
