Edward “Bill” W. Rogers, 80, of Lookout Valley, died on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
He was a lifelong resident of Lookout Valley and a member of Valley Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Iron Workers Local #704 in 1989 with 35 years of service. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening or coaching softball for WFLI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jinky Rogers; and his parents, Willard and Clara Rogers.
He is survived by his daughters, Sue Ann “Susie” (Donnie) Cook, of Harrison, and Jerrie Gale Rogers, of Chattanooga; sons, Charlie (Joy) Rogers, of Tunnel Hill, and Bobby Rogers (Ann Holmes), of Lookout Mountain; brothers, Reece Rogers, Cleveland Rogers, Link Rogers, Gene Rogers and Donnie Rogers; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Shellabarger and Brother Horace Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home and prior to the service Sunday.
